Pascoe Vale Veterinary Hospital supports 'Free the Bears Fund'

The Free the Bears Fund is an organisation dedicated to protecting, preserving and enriching the lives of bears throughout the world.

Established in 1995, by West Australian Mary Hutton, Free the Bears Fund, has provided support to a wide range of projects across the globe; from the rehabilitation of orphaned bear cubs in the Russian Far East to surveying wild Spectacled bears in Ecuador. Most recently the focus has been on the Sun bears and Asiatic black bears of South-east Asia and the Sloth bears of India.

Free the Bears Fund is currently dedicating resources to creating a sanctuary for bears in Vietnam where they will be able to provide a life free of cruelty and stress, and full of care and love.

Free the Bears Fund has established a partnership with Vietnam based NGO Wildlife at Risk (WAR) to work closely with southern Vietnam provincial authorities and the Forestry Protection Department to confiscate bears from bile farms, as well as provide education and awareness on laws and efforts to end bear bile trade and farming.

Pascoe Vale Veterinary Hospital is proud to assist the Free the Bears Fund in the establishment of a bear sanctuary in Vietnam through the donation of equipment and products.
